We would like to inform you that on February 23, 2023, in the conditions of the private clinic “MedClinic”, the second stage of reconstructive and restorative treatment of the defect of the left heel bone of Serhiy Lapiychuk was carried out. During this stage, a recipient bed was formed for Serhiy in the area of the calcaneus defect with adaptation of the skin flap and dimensions of the 3D model of the calcaneus defect. Also, the left foot was fixed in the Ilizarov apparatus in a state of plantar flexion with hinged devices. The operation was successful. Serhiy was discharged for outpatient treatment at his place of residence.
The cost of the second stage of treatment was UAH 122,824. Financing of this stage was carried out through the “ProBONE” charitable foundation.
At home, after 4-5 weeks after the operation, Serhiy will begin to gradually bring the foot into the normal position in the apparatus. Such manipulation will make it possible to additionally stretch the skin flap and create conditions for the final formation of the recipient bed.
Serhiy is scheduled to undergo the next third stage of treatment approximately 6-8 weeks after the second stage. During this stage, it is planned to dismantle the apparatus and form a bed in the area of the anterior abdominal wall for subsequent placement of the osteoprogenitor graft of the calcaneus defect.
The cost of the third stage is UAH 74,110. (approx. 2170 USD or EUR).
