We would like to inform you that on December 12, 2022, the first stage of surgical treatment was performed for the patient Yury Mykolayovych Omelchuk. During this stage, the varus deviation of the first metatarsal bone was corrected, the dorsiflexor tendon of the first toe was lengthened, and the dislocation of the first toe of the left foot was removed. The sugery was successful. All planned sugery activities were carried out in full.
The postoperative period was favorable, on December 26, 2022, the sutures were removed, and the limb was immobilized with a soft cast plastic bandage. Yuriy was discharged for outpatient treatment.
Financing of this stage of operative treatment was carried out through the charitable foundation “ProBONE.
Yuri’s second stage of treatment is planned for approximately 2-3 months after the first stage. During this stage, a revision of the defect area of the main phalanx of the left toe I will be performed, the red bone marrow and a fragment of the fibula will be taken, from which mesenchymal stem cells and periosteal cells will be isolated. These cells will then be used to create an osteoprogenitor graft. Also, on the basis of computer tomography of both feet, a 3D model of the defect of the main phalanx will be created and the formation of the reception bed will begin.
